How to Book a Men's Esthetic in Japan
as a Foreigner
A practical, step-by-step guide to booking your first Japanese men's esthetic session — by LINE, phone, or walk-in. Includes copy-paste Japanese messages, payment and language tips, and what to expect on arrival. Examples below use Osaka, but the same steps work in Tokyo, Nagoya, and across Japan.
How to Use This Page
Men's esthetic (メンズエス, menzu esute) is a relaxation oil-massage service for men, widely available across Japan. Almost every salon is Japanese-language only, so this page exists to bridge that gap: it shows you exactly how the booking works and gives you the Japanese phrases you need.
Read the page top to bottom — each step builds on the last:
- Choose an area & read the listings. On each shop page you will see the area (nearest station), the menu & price (course length in minutes and the yen fee), opening hours, and access (a short walk from the station). Pick a salon that fits your hotel, budget, and schedule.
- Decide your course before you contact. Knowing your preferred length (60 / 90 / 120 min) and date keeps the conversation short and easy.
- Book by LINE, phone, or walk-in. See “Three Ways to Book” below. LINE is the easiest for visitors who do not speak Japanese.
- Spot English-friendly salons. Look for the English OK badge on a listing, or open our Foreign-Friendly Shops page to see salons with international experience. If no badge is shown, assume Japanese only — use the copy-paste phrases on this page.
- Tourist tips. Carry cash in yen, arrive 5 minutes early, and bring a translation app. Most salons are 18+ and ask first-time visitors to fill in a short intake form.
Step 1 — Choose Your Area
-
01Pick the area closest to your hotel or plans
Osaka's main entertainment and esthetic districts are easy to reach by subway. Select based on where you're staying or where you'll be sightseeing.
Step 2 — Browse Shops and Therapists
-
02Read profiles and check ratings
Each salon listing shows therapist diaries, photos, ratings, and an English OK badge for salons with English-speaking or translation-friendly staff.
Sort by review count for the most reliable shops, or use Foreign-Friendly Shops to filter for internationally-experienced salons.
Step 3 — Check the Menu and Prices
-
03Confirm your course before contacting
Typical courses: 60 min / 90 min / 120 min. Oil massage is the most popular service. Prices generally range from ¥8,000 to ¥20,000 depending on duration.
Decide your preferred duration and any specific requests (pressure strength, focus area) before sending a LINE message — this keeps the conversation efficient.

Step 4 — Contact via LINE (Copy-Paste Messages)
Most salons book exclusively via LINE. Tap the LINE button on the shop page, then copy and paste one of the messages below. Staff will respond in Japanese — use Google Translate camera mode to read the reply.
Step 5 — What to Bring and What to Expect on Arrival
What to bring checklist
- Cash in yen (¥10,000–¥20,000 depending on course length)
- Your smartphone with LINE app open and reservation confirmed
- Google Translate app with Japanese language downloaded offline
